Not long now before I apply for SVA!!!
The car is almost complete, I've got a few little bits
to sort out then it's off to the test centre. I'm not looking forward
to it as a lot of Super Specs have had problems with the lambda reading
on the emissions test.
I'm not going to do anything about it now as I'm sure
there will be a fair few other points to fix before it's retest... might
as well do them all at the same time eh!
I've had a couple of problems with the car in the last
week or two... one was the ECU and the other was the radiator...
ECU – I got a mobile diagnostics company round
to sort the engine out as it was idling at 1500rpm, unfortunately he
turned round and said that my ECU was faulty as it was not turning the
throttle switch off. Bummer! So the next day the ECU came off and got
sent back to Robin Hood. The following week I phoned Richard who said
that they had plugged my ECU into one of their cars and it did the same
as mine. (thank god) They sent me a replacement ECU back with-in a couple
of days, unfortunately I was at work when it arrived and missed the
courier. So rather than risk missing them again I decided to drive the
motorbike to Sittingbourne to pick it up... guess what?? THEY COULDN'T
FIND IT!!!
After a weekend of panicing, searching the internet
for ECU's (as Robin Hood said they had no more at the factory) I got
a phone call on Monday from ANC saying that they had found my package
and would be delivering it shortly (to my work address!!) PHEW!!!
Radiator – After the diagnostic man left I notice
a little water coming out of the hose nearest the thermostat switch...
so I tightened the jubilee clip, as you do, and... to cut a long story
short, the seal on the rad had split and I spent all morning driving
around trying to find someone to fix it. Luckily I did, JUST RADS in
Higham industrial estate. Morale of the story is don't over tighten
jubilee clips:)
